NIC - Medupi Power Station

Remember we had a post regarding product finally leaving for the project;

NIC (Construction) has a team working at the Medupi Power Station (Eskom) and they have sent us some photos;

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medupi_Power_Station

The Medupi Power Station is a new dry-cooled coal fired power station being built by Eskom near Lephalale in Limpopo province, South Africa. When completed, the power station will have six boilers each powering an 800 MW turbine, producing 4800 MW of power. This will be the largest dry-cooled coal fired power station in the world.[1] Contracts have been placed with Hitachi to supply the boilers and Alstom to provide the Steam turbines for this plant.[2] At R33.6 Billion, these are the biggest contracts ever placed by Eskom. Super-critical boilers will be used to improve the efficiency of the power plant.[3]
Medupi will be supplied by coal from Exxaro’s Grootegeluk coal mine, located to the north of the site. Eskom has placed a contract with Exxaro to supply 14.6 MT coal per year for 40 years.[4] The first 800 MW unit is expected to be commissioned in early 2013, with the next units following at 9 month intervals. The power station is currently expected to cost R100 Billion.[5]

Congrats - Claudette Crouch

Congratulations to Claudette Crouch (QMS & Training Officer - HQ) and Matthew Vancoillie on your recent engagement.

As most people might know is that Claudette has been dating Matthew for 6 years and for the last few years everyone has been hoping Matthew would "pop the question" - WELL HE FINALLY DID!

Here is the engagement story;

On the morning of our 6year anniversary (23 Nov) we woke up early and Matthew asked if he could bring our dog Evie to come cuddle with me (I love cuddles) so he brought her. I felt something on her neck, a ribbon... Wondered what it was and felt a piece of metal and asked him what it was... Matthew stared at me and said "Will you marry me" - I blabbed, cried and hugged him... After a few minutes I asked him "did I say yes?" He said "you said allot but not yes" - So I said YES a zillion times!!
PERFECT WAY TO START THIS NEW ADVENTURE!!!

Think Again

Ever sat in your office and thought... "Man this is hard work"
